Dear God,
Help us to laugh today. You created this fine ability, and it feels so good to laugh! It is a joy brimming activity. It is love spilled out. It is cathartic. Help us Lord to find our laugh this weekend!

If you have not laughed today,
get your attitude adjusted
’cause something dull is in the way,
or your funny bone is busted,
and that’s grim diagnosis,
you’ll need and operation,
but maybe, I supposes,
you can find salvation
in thinking of the secret smile
Christ wore ’round the apostles,
hiding laughter all the while
that they would preen and jostle
like peacocks about who’d become
the best, Apostle Number One.
