13 Tear your hearts,
not your clothes.”
Come back to the Lord your God.
He is kind and merciful.
He does not become angry quickly.
He has great love.
Maybe he will change his mind
about the bad punishment he planned.
Returning to “The Man” aka Christ, God, and His Holy Spirit is hard. I don’t want to reveal to Him that I have sinned. Yet He already knows. I want to do things on my own strength, on my own terms, and in my own time.
“The Man” is not wishing or planning that independence. He has a knack for helping me return to Him. He pushes me to the brink of sad/mad emotions in order for me to know that I’m not “The Man” or “The Woman” of the week. I am not one destined for the cover of some magazine or book jacket.
When I return to His design and His plan for me, I am not small.
I am cherished and needed.
He desires us to return to The Plan only He can create.
In reading from a devotional plan for Crystal Stine’s new book “Holy Hustle” she shares these wise words for our hearts to ponder:
Do you feel like one of the tiny, overlooked pieces in the (Lego) kit?
Are you still not sure that what looks plain and ordinary and messy could ever be part of the holy kingdom work your heart longs to offer to the world?
Do you wonder how you can stay where God has called you when you aren’t sure the work you’ve been given is good enough?
Your presence and your purpose matter. Whether we’re the most impressive piece in a pile (helping others to stand firm!) or the smallest accent (shining brightly!), we glorify God when we unite for His kingdom. You are irreplaceable, perfectly equipped, and incredibly necessary to the work God has planned for you. In Christ, we can do more than we could ever imagine. –Crystal Stine, Holy Hustle
You are Righteous Dude! I know I copied that line from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. You have led our boys to comedies via our “Man of the House.” Thank you for our families. I have a husband who is not only faith filled but also filled with movie trivia. May I return to Your design, knowing that I fit perfectly as the mom of our sons. We get to enjoy a fun dad who has a movie suggestions far better than Netflix could recommend.
Forgive us when we do not return to You, Lord. We need Your help to guide us and to help us recognize when we plan too much “me stuff” and not enough God stuff. Return Your Spirit to my heart right now. Thank you.
