Dreaming of Being a Mom

I have friends who are dreaming of becoming moms.  Some women have children easily.  Other women wait patiently.  Endure fertility issues, waiting on a spouse, or simply on things to be “perfect” before even trying for another child.  I have many girl friends who struggle with being or not being a mom.  I hear the cries of their hearts, and I try to encourage them.

My plan this week is not only to listen and encourage them verbally, but to call out to the Lord in prayer for them.  As they wait…

Dear Lord,

Give women peace.  Help them call out to you in their fear, in their pain, in their loss, and in their uncertainty.  Give us your love.  Help that be enough.  Know that some are called to be moms now, others later, and some never.  We who love children and have children are blessed to be with children daily.  Help us who have children rejoice!  Raise them well, and realize that instead of being annoyed by the three year old tugging on my arm now to “go outside now mom!”…celebrate the gift.  Other women want these little loves too.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV

  1. The hardest part about being a mom is letting go. The dream comes and then we have to leave it in the Master’s hand. We realize they’re ours only because He lent them to us. We will always be “moms” but He will always be their “heavenly Father”. Interestingly enough He has no grandchildren.

  2. I pondered your final line in the comment Chris…aren’t we all God’s grandchildren? His Son was Christ, and then we are the generations that followed. We the Believers are grafted into the heavenly family! Grandchildren, great-children, etc…infinitely loved.

  3. Amen! I had to click on your post on the link because the picture of your little guy is so cute! I’m so glad I did….wonderfully written post and so true. My sister struggled with infertility for many years and God finally gave her a BEAUTIFUL baby. And peace is a battle in the process of waiting. I love that prayer for women today. Blessings to you today!!
