Saluting Our Captain

Captain America is special to our family because my brother in law serves as a Captain in the US Army.  I looked up more on the subject in that my sister is planning our nephew’s birthday according to this possible theme.   Wikiepedia’s descrpiton: For nearly all of the character’s publication history, Captain America has been the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States‘ war effort. Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif, and is armed with an indestructible shield that can be thrown as a weapon.[3

We know a real life American SUPER hero.  Praying for him is an honor.  However, the sadness that war brings is also in the news and in our hearts.  We do not want war, we want grace and peace.  In life, we all wage a war of some kind…emotional distress, economic difficulty, work stress, parenting, friendships, and faith.

Our “Captain America” is a man of faith and thus his mind is trained not only for combat in the physical realm but in the Spiritual realm also.  Are you ready for battle today?

Colossians 3:1-4

New International Version (NIV)

Living as Those Made Alive in Christ

3 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

p.s. Captain America is fictional.  Our Heavenly Father, the Ultimate Super Hero, is not.  He believed enough in the power of his Son, Jesus, that he sent him for us…to die on a cross so that we too, may be heirs of his inheritance, heaven…eternal life.   We are sons and daughters of the King.  Now, that is cool!  I am teaching our sons to fight their fears with the Power of the God.  Writing here helps me to focus on how much my heavenly father believes in me.
