Luke 8:14

The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.

I want to be the seed that falls in good soil, God’s Word, and grows!  I am so much more mature today than I was ten years ago.  My husband and I talked for two hours last night before bed, and it was a mature conversation filled with insights on parenting, friendships, faith, and the journeys we and others are on.  We are far from perfect.  I’m a sinner, and he is too.  However, we are seeking to become mature together.  A life or marriage founded on Christ is not full proof, but it does provide a hope and source of fullness.

James 1:4

Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

We have persevered through life.  It has not always been easy.  There are times where it would be easier to “take the easy road.”  However, it is not on the easy roads that we grow.  I love that the dictionary defines mature in terms of plants, animals, and people.  God created all things, and it is in nature that I often see his glory and glimmers of grace.  Photos above show things of beauty that I saw this month in our home…

a potted flower,
fresh cut roses,
and fruit in a new red bowl.
God ripens fruit, grows flowers, and matures us.  In Him we reach fullness.  We are maturing in body, mind, and Spirit.  Christ is growing me every day.  Is He growing you, your marriage, and your family?
