Awoke early this morning. Laid in bed for about an hour praying. Greeted the day with the thought of plane tickets to Texas for Christmas. Last minute travel plans in a day and age where we don’t walk with our donkey as Mary and Joseph did back in Bible days. The Son of God was born after a journey. We, too, will make our own journey from Florida to Texas via air. The gifts of the Savior that I reflect on today…
1. Good jobs, Daniel and I are both blessed with incomes. We have the ability to buy things we need. We can buy plane tickets when many in our world only dream of travel.
2. Family. We have family to spend the holidays with that we love. Our savior placed each of us in the family that was God ordained just for us. I love our family…immediate and extended.
3. Mother and Child. I bought a special ornament yesterday…a simple pewter ornament with Mary and Jesus. How simple is this gift, but how great is its message. Hallmark reminded me of what is truly a joy this Christmas season. A mother and her child, and I truly can relate to this priceless gift. We have two wonderful sons, gifts from our Savior.
No prolonged infancies among us, please. We’ll not tolerate babes in the woods, small children who are an easy mark for impostors. God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love—like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love.
